Getting Started

Want to Start CrossFit?

Looking to get started at CrossFit New England? Never tried CrossFit before? Not a problem! We’ll teach you everything you need to know in a 90-Minute Intro Session. Email us at info@crossfitnewengland.com and let us know what time of day you are trying to come to the gym. From there we will pair you up with a coach that will walk you through the 90-Minute Intro Session. With this coach you will cover how to warm up, learn how to do some of the movements that you’ll see inside of workouts, and go over all the ins & outs of what makes CFNE special. We will help you work with any injuries or modifications. After your Intro Session your coach will still be in touch for the next 30 days. We will send you a Mentoring Email every night with the next days workout, advice for that workout, and a little piece of CrossFit knowledge. Your 90-Minute Intro Session will arm you with the confidence and knowledge to be successful in group classes at CrossFit New England. Email us today and let’s get you started on your journey to a fitter, healthier you!

Wait, what's CrossFit?
To be nerdy, it is constantly varied, functional movement, done at relatively high intensity. What that means in English is that we do a bunch of different workouts, comprised of simple body-weight and free-weight movements, and we are pushing ourselves as hard as we want to or can on that day.
Who has to do an Intro Session?
Anyone who is new to CrossFit has to do an Intro Session. We strive to move with virtuosity. That means doing the common uncommonly well. The best place to learn new skills and hone your abilities is in a one-on-one setting.
How much does a 90-Minute Intro Session Cost?

It costs $220 for an Intro Session. That $220 gets you 30 days at CrossFit New England. Your first day is your one-on-one session with your coach and then you have 29 days after that to take classes. After that you can be set up with a monthly membership.

What do we do in one of the Elements sessions?
Each Elements session is set up to flow just like our classes do. Each day starts off with a general warm up, like 2 minutes on a bike or a short run to get the heart pumping. Then there is a specific warm up that involves more moving and stretching. Next, you will learn the skills for the day. This portion makes up a bulk of the hour. After you feel confident in the new movements we cap the day off with a little workout.
What do I wear?
Clothes that you are comfortable moving in. You will be getting up and down off the floor and moving quickly. Make sure they are clothes you are ok sweating in. You will sweat. In the nicer months we will work out outside if the weather permits it. There are tons of CrossFit-specific clothes and shoes out there but you do not need any of that to get started. If you are looking to upgrade the wardrobe we can point you in the right direction.
What if I've done CrossFit before?

Hell yea! Welcome to your new home. “Doing CrossFit before” means you’ve done the introductory course at another CrossFit Gym and then you were an active member there for at least 3 months. If that’s the case, you can do a Test-out. All that is is a formal way to start at our gym. It’s an hour-long session where you will do a CFNE benchmark to officially be welcomed into our community.

“My buddy showed me some moves in his garage,” or “I’ve watched all the videos online” are great but we still suggest you go through a 90-minute intro session, if that’s the extent of your experience.

What if I have an injury?
We are sorry to hear that but not a problem. The beauty of CrossFit is that it can be adjusted, scaled, or modified to fit anyone’s needs. In your Intro Session we can come up with a plan on how to accommodate any injuries.
I've heard that CrossFit Is dangerous, is it?
Anything done incorrectly can be dangerous. By going through a 90-Minute Intro Session you are learning the correct way to move and approach workouts. Once in classes you are under the watchful eye of a coach whose sole purpose is to push you outside your comfort zone while maintaining a safe environment. CrossFit done correctly is not dangerous.
This sounds amazing! How do I sign up?
