Our Coaches

CFNE is home to some of the worlds best coaches. We take pride in making fitness fun and enjoyable while delivering the results of a world-class strength and conditioning facility.

Ben Bergeron

“I have a few loves in my life; my wife, my family, powder skiing, and CrossFit New England. I have been coaching fitness for over 15 years, and have never been apart of something as special as what we have at CFNE. I wake up everyday and get to do exactly what I love most in life; coach amazing people. The members of CFNE – from the kids, to the competitive athletes, to the grandmothers, to those looking to loose 100 lbs.- inspire me to be a better person. One of my benchmarks for success and a happy life is to be able to blur the line between work and play, and I can say with 100% certainty that owning and coaching at CFNE has done just that.

Heather Bergeron
“In the 20 years that I’ve been teaching fitness, I’ve come to realize that exercise has the potential to be more than just something we squeeze into our schedule a few times a week. If we invest the energy and time, it has the power to make many other facets of our lives incrementally better as well. At some point, we’ve all experienced it with working out: the harder we work and more consistent we are, the more we want to clean up other areas of our life too. For many of us, whether we are competitive by nature or avoid it like the plague, training with others who are working towards similar goals builds that fire within us…AND makes the whole trip a lot more fun. One of my main goals in training clients is always the same; to let people leave all of their ‘baggage’ at the door and empower them to surprise themselves with what they are actually physically capable of.

Nothing means more to me than my family.  Absolutely nothing.  And, one of the things I love the most about CrossFit is that it is something that my entire family can share together: husband, children, parents, grandparents.  It makes staying fit and active, eating a clean diet, and supporting a full-blown community so much a part of our lives that we are all on this crazy cool journey together that can only land us a better life than we could ever have dreamt of before we found CrossFit.

Similarly, I couldn’t be more grateful for the role I get to play with CrossFit Kids.  We all think back to our own childhoods and wonder what where we’d be had we started when we were as young as some of these kids.  I get to help make this a reality for kids that walk in our door every day.  I take that very seriously.  My own kids help me understand the balance required to keep kids interested WHILE helping them really appreciate what this whole thing is reeeally all about: leading a clean and strong life, having fun, and supporting each other along the way.  Just waiting to see which of our CFNE Kids will be on the CrossFit Games podium some day! ”

Matt DellaValle (MDV)
CrossFit is my absolute passion. For the past seven years, I lived and breathed this way of life.  Beyond astounding gains in fitness, CrossFit provides a refreshing perspective on life, a unique sense of focus, and access to a network of incredible people.  It is unrivaled in its ability to change lives – physically, mentally, and emotionally.

I first discovered CrossFit while studying law at William & Mary.  CrossFit allowed me to escape and step outside the library for an hour each day.  My days as an attorney are behind me; however focusing my energy on my passion is the best decision of my professional life.

The most rewarding aspect of this life in CrossFit is coaching.  I own the privilege of helping everyday people become better.  Whether that is being a better mom, better dad, better police, better athlete, better friend, or even, just better at getting into your favorite jeans.  Helping another person in pursuit of their goals is the most rewarding proposition I could imagine.

The above tells you why I enjoy CrossFit so much, but to understand for yourself, you should experience it.  I, or any other of our fantastic coaches, would love to talk to you more about CrossFit, your goals and how to take the first steps.  Feel free to email me anytime!

The energy CrossFit New England gives off is like nothing I have ever been a part of before. I fell in love with the community right from the beginning. Athletically, Crossfit was something that I had never experienced before. The competition aspect of crossfit interested me right away. Training for competitions is what I like to do,  but most of all whether you compete in crossfit or use it as your everyday exercise routine there is always something to work towards. There are always challenges to overcome and there are always goals to be set. Whether its a weekly, monthly or yearly goal we are constantly striving to improve ourselves and the best part is, everyone supports each other.  Becoming a crossfit coach was the best decision I made. I love being a part of the members success with their health and fitness. It is extremely rewarding seeing our athletes improve. I wake up every day excited that I get to work with such great people. There is nothing else I would rather be doing. I feel very lucky to be a part of such an amazing community.

A lifetime of athletics, extensive knowledge of all things fitness, with nearly a decade of coaching experience.

I’m a positive “glass is completely full” type of person with a passion for helping people. I believe that the pursuit of excellence will always be rewarded and everyone is capable of accomplishing greatness.

My favorite thing is being happy and seeing happy people. In coaching there is no thrill greater than watching someone succeed at achieving a goal or having an aw-ha moment when a challenging movement suddenly clicks.

I’m incredibly confident in helping individuals to learn new skills whether it be double unders, muscle ups, Olympic lifts, or other tricky areas any athlete is looking to master. If you need some focussed work please set up a one on one with me and we can dial it in.

HarryCrossFit has translated well beyond the gym walls for me. It has become my lifestyle – the constant pursuit of excellence. What separates CrossFit from the other driving factors in my life however are the incredible relationships and camaraderie that inherently come with this experience. It’s a program that brings together all walks of life – and thrives off it. With the sole requirement being the will to succeed, CrossFit is truly for everyone.

I could not be prouder to be a coach here at CFNE. And I take that responsibility very seriously. Each passing day at the gym is an opportunity for our athletes to become not only fitter, mentally and physically, but to become better people. This is why we don’t call ourselves ‘personal trainers’. We’re coaches, and we hold that title proud.

“I walked into CFNE with an open mind – literally, my mind had just been opened up and operated on.  I suffered a severe stroke requiring emergency brain surgery when I was 29.  My Doctors told me that I would have trouble with things like dizziness, coordination and balance amongst other things. Initially, I did struggle with these things.  I was determined to fight back and make a100% recovery. Three years later, after rehab/recovery and the go ahead from the docs, I joined CFNE in 2009.  This was one of the best decisions I ever made in my life.  When I first joined I was filled with doubt, anger and self pity.  I was determined to change, to be better, to grow positively.  Each day I reminded myself to keep an open mind and try new movements and interact more with members. I slowly became integrated with the CFNE community.  I recognized that even though others didn’t have the same experience that I had didn’t mean they didn’t know how I felt.  Working out alongside someone, feeling the same thing as those around you forges an incredibly strong connection.  It’s a connection we all experience as CrossFitters.  I’d go as far as to say that’s why most of us CrossFit.  It’s these connections with the other members that I made at CrossFit New England that fueled my recovery.  I found out I wasn’t alone.  I realized I was capable of so much more than I thought – no matter what I wasn’t “supposed to be able to do”.  I’m more than happy to say I have made a 100% recovery after several years.  ‘Believe in yourself no matter what obstacles are in front of you.  You’re capable of so much more than you know. It may not come quickly.  Be patient and work for every advancement no matter how small.’  This is the message I try to spread to all the athletes that I coach.”

Geoff Leard
For as long as I can remember athletics and competing have not only been a way of life for me, but also a great tool to test my character.  In my teenage years I started to excel both in football and the boxing ring.  I sacrificed gallons of sweat and countless hours into training and saw great results, but unfortunately routine became the enemy and I got bored.  I needed something new and after talking to a few buddies in the Military I began watching CrossFit videos.  At first these individuals seemed nuts for putting their bodies and minds through this “torture,” and I wondered how could someone get a good workout in under 15 minutes? At that point I had to give it a shot. Well, immediately after it was finished, I was hooked and haven’t looked back since. I loved the feeling and the sense of accomplishment after completing something I thought was so challenging.  It not only tested my level of fitness but it enabled my mind to break down barriers I never would have encountered before.  CrossFit has helped me become physically harder and mentally stronger and prepared me for whatever life may throw my way.  It’s taught me that the body can achieve what the mind can perceive.

I am very fortunate to have experienced how amazing CFNE truly is, from both a member and now as a coach.  It really opens your eyes to the amazing community we surround ourselves with on a daily basis.  Whether its going to battle against the other competitors or helping athletes achieve something they never thought was possible.  I’m happy to say I have more results and PR’s at this point as a Coach then I do in my own logbook.  My passion in life is CrossFit from the moment I wake up till the time I go to sleep. I have never been more fit, healthier, and happier to be part of a community so special, and I hope I can get you on that path too.

Derek Mohamed

“Crossfit has had an enormous positive impact on my life – not only the fitness benefits, but the amazing people and community of CrossFit, especially CrossFit New England, are truly a blessing.  Many of these benefits have come as a result of training and preparing for, and competing in various competitions, throwdowns, and the CrossFit Games.  It is a huge honor for me to have had Ben ask me to be the CrossFit New England Competitors’ Coach.  Since it is the aspiration of CFNE to be the best gym in the world, and we partially define that through our participation and success in competition, this is an important job.  In addition to the rest of the excellent coaches of CFNE, I am an additional resource for the competitors of Team CFNE to consult with about such things as Psychological Preparation & Strategy, CrossFit/Life/Work Balance, and WOD Strategy/Gaming. I look forward to working with and alongside the other members of Team CFNE as we strive to put our collective best foot forward on Game Day in local, regional, national and international competition.”

Derek is a senior partner with a wealth advisory group at UBS in Wellesley. He lives in Marlboro with his beautiful family- wife, Nicole and 3 children- David, Isabelle, and Zachary. He also coaches youth hockey and doesnt play nearly as much golf as he used to before CrossFit.

Ashley Fors
AshleyCrossFit has changed my life, I am healthier overall, fitter than I have ever been, happier every day, find passion in all that I do, build relationships with amazing people, and help others to do the same.  After being presented the opportunity to coach at CFNE, what I found myself truly enjoying was coaching new athletes in the sport, seeing the fire inside of them as they saw their lives change both inside and outside of the gym.  Each time it is as if I revisit that moment myself again.  I am our head elements coach, and absolutely love it!

I am also a cardiac RN at Milford Regional Medical Center.  I have been able to take so much away from the foundations of CrossFit and transfer it to my patients and coworkers.  Through these two backgrounds I focus my concentration on nutrition and overall health and wellness across the lifespan.

MaxI came into Crossfit New England looking for something I could add to my weekly regiment. I thought it would be something I’d do on the side. Boy was I wrong. Crossfit has quickly become an enormous part of my life. The community, the workouts, and the people are like nothing else I’ve experienced before. I feel incredibly lucky to train and coach at CFNE.

I coach adults, teenagers, and kids at CFNE and love coaching the different ages and abilities. I am a firm believer in the saying “practice makes habit” and encourage all athletes of all ages to train their weaknesses and reap the benefits.

Most of all I love to have a good time. You only have one life so you might as well enjoy it to the fullest. Eat well, train hard, and smile. Life is good!
