Get to know August Member of the Month, Kate Ryan! 

1. When and how did you get started with us?
I joined CFNE in April 2017 after my husband, Patrick, and I moved out of the city and bought our first house in Framingham. I previously was a member at Crossfit Southie but followed a separate strength program and only took class once a week. I never really tried to learn gymnastics or Olympic lifting until CFNE. After a month of Ben’s classes I knew I was addicted. Every Sunday I’m excited for Monday morning, I know that not only will I get a great workout but also a positive mindset to start every day! 

2. If you could only do one CrossFit movement for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Ring Muscle-ups. I can’t do them yet but will someday. Hopefully soon.

3. What 3 things would you bring to a deserted island?
My husband, my puppy and Van’s multigrain waffles.
 
4. Favorite workout/least favorite workout? 
Favorite: Team workouts! If I am doing it on my own anything with running, rowing and pull-ups. Ideally a chipper, longer the better.
Least: Handstand pushups.
 
5. What’s your favorite CFNE tradition?
Murph for Memorial Day. It’s for a great cause and is so much fun working out with a huge group of people all dressed in red, white and blue! So much energy and fun to do together.
 
6. If you had to pick a TV show to be your life, what show would it be?
Not sure that they correlate to my life but I would have to pick Gossip Girl or The O.C. for the mere fact that I’ve watched all of the seasons countless times and am still entertained every time.
 
7. What is your spirit animal?
Horse – “The horse is the guide of passion, drive, and an appetite for freedom and expression.”
Also, I had two horses growing up and have always loved them as an animal.
 
8. What’s your favorite cheat food?
Definitely ice cream! Cookie dough, peanut butter, chocolate, moose tracks…
 
9. What superpower would you want to possess?
The ability to read peoples’ minds …or the ability to eat unlimited ice cream without getting a stomach ache.
 
10. If you wrote a book, what would it be called?
I don’t think I would write a book, it would likely be a blog about home decorating called “With a Hint of Glitter”. I LOVE a little sparkle but there’s a fine line.
