Well, for Crossfitters, really… WHY NOT???
A most befitting opportunity to celebrate the season in our healthy, strong bodies that we work so hard for AND raise both money and awareness for the PlayBall!, Boston foundation.
Since after school sports were de-funded, PlayBall! has filled the void. It fully funds after-school sports (coaches, uniforms, equipment, busses, field space) in Boston, for middle-school aged boys and girls. PlayBall! is a grassroots organization founded by Mike Harney, a Boston-area native and Boston resident. When Mike learned that middle school kids in Boston had lost public funding to support after-school sports, he immediately began grabbing every friend, coach and teacher that he knew and coaxed them to coach these middle school students in football, baseball, volleyball and double-dutch. This very basic model was an immediate success and the demand by other schools to get involved is tremendous. Mike’s mission has become, “Get more feet on the field”! The growth of PlayBall! has been incredibly fast, serving over 1000 kids after 5 years, yet PB! is only serving 8% of Boston middle school students.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! Come out for a FUN FILLED Santa Speedo Race this year and help get more kids playing after school sports!
Sign up as a team. Sign up as an individual at www.ssrunners.org. You can run as an individual or a team.
We need each runner to commit to raising $400. “It was the easiest $400 I have ever raised! I’m not sure if it was so easy because people could’t believe the impact that such a minimal amount of money had on the growth of the program, or the fact that many couldn’t resist the thought of my running through the Back Bay in a Speedo in the middle of winter!?” [John Dolan, Board member]
You cannot believe HOW FAR the money you raise will go to these aspiring student athletes!!
We have 5 funded sports for 20+ schools but are still resource constrained and have a waiting list for additional schools and sports
THIS EVENT IS NOT TO BE MISSED!
HAVE FUN CELEBRATING THE HOLIDAYS WITH FELLOW CROSSFITTERS
RAISE MONEY TO GET MORE OF OUR LOCAL KIDS PLAYING SPORTS AND SETTING THE FOUNDATION FOR A HEALTHY AND SAFE FUTURE.
SHOW THE REST OF BOSTON WHAT A “GIFT” IT IS TO BE PART OF THE CROSSFIT COMMUNITY!!!
