The Big Clean Complex

6 sets of the following Complex :
High Hang Squat Clean + Hang Squat Clean + Squat Clean + Push Press
High Hang Squat Clean + Hang Squat Clean + Squat Clean + Push Jerk
High Hang Squat Clean + Hang Squat Clean + Squat Clean + Split Jerk
One set consists of all 12 reps. Try not to drop the bar during the entire set; if you must drop after the Overhead movements, it’s allowed – just be quick to get back on the bar.  Rest as needed between sets and try to increase weight after each set.
High Hang – Start with the bar at “the pockets.”
Hang – Start with the bar just above the knee.
Squat Clean – Start with the bar on the ground.

    Got spicy on 70#. I failed on the squat clean at the end of the high hang set. Regrouped and finished the set and the round.

  16. Not doing anything like what you guys are doing these days (wish i could-shoulder tweakage) but what the heck-I’m gonna post anyway. Just skip right over this if ya like!

    Mini clean complex-(pc,hsc,sc)-otm-135,155,175,195,205,215,225. Was super careful with these-testing it out. Felt great
    Amrap 15- 3pc 185, 10 push-ups, run 200 ish- 8+1. Was careful with the cleans -singles all the way

    Start and finish with shoulder rehab as always

    Still nothing overhead, so these were all just the clean part of the complex.

    Ahhh the Big Clean Complex … striking fear into my heart every time it comes up. Maybe my arms remember the first time I did this when we were not “allowed” to drop after the overheads.
    Not a PR of max wt, but of the overall series.

    Thanks to Marissa who happened to over hear me saying I was trying for 115# and added up the weight on the bar – informing me that I just did 120#. Luckily she didn’t tell me this until after I did it. Totally mental. The jerk wasn’t pretty though, but I got it. Kim it was great lifting w/ you.

    Harry and Kevin, excellent tips today. I couldn’t have asked for better coaching. Great Weight Lifting Wednesday!

  43. Hey Gang – It was so awesome to be back at CFNE this morning! Even though Eugene did his usual (excessive smack talking backed by consecutive no-shows), it was great to see many of the family I have missed for the past 1.5 years. If you don’t appreciate it every day already, I’m here to tell you what a special thing it is to be part of CFNE. You are all so lucky to be able to show up there every day. I miss it so much.

    I’ll try to be back again soon! Thanks for filling up my tank in the meantime…

  48. Big Clean Complex with the John Doole: 95-165 (dropped after the push jerk) was fighting for unbroken, next time. Not a PR, but I only dropped it once, where as I was dropping from the top on 3 of the 6 (March 2013). I’ll take it.
