The Big Clean Complex

6 sets of the following Complex :
High Hang Squat Clean + Hang Squat Clean + Squat Clean + Push Press
High Hang Squat Clean + Hang Squat Clean + Squat Clean + Push Jerk
High Hang Squat Clean + Hang Squat Clean + Squat Clean + Split Jerk
One set consists of all 12 reps. Try not to drop the bar during the entire set; if you must drop after the Overhead movements, it’s allowed – just be quick to get back on the bar.  Rest as needed between sets and try to increase weight after each set.
High Hang – Start with the bar at “the pockets.”
Hang – Start with the bar just above the knee.
Squat Clean – Start with the bar on the ground.

  19. Big Clean Complex: 55, 65, 75, 80, 85

I was not awake at all this morning. Thanks for lifting with me Mich and Al.

On to my third cup of coffee and may come out of my stupor soon.

  20. A link below to an interesting article about developing resiliance in young people. Idicative of a paradigm shift from a definition of resiliance as an inate trait to an realization that resiliance is an acquired skill that one must develop. Conceptually applicable to the skills and discipline that crossfit seeks to develop both physically and psychologically:

    • Heather V.

Thank you paying attention!!!! I never would have added it again, if you didn’t say anything.

  22. Big Clean Complex: 65 / 85 / 95 / 105 / 115 / 95 WOOF!

DU work after with what little I had left in the tank.

It was all about the Rob Zombie channel today – WLW music at its finest.

Great working with you, as always, Rob G.

  23. The Big Clean Complex: (55, 65, 70, 75, 75, 75) Thanks Colleen…enjoyed working out with you! Always fun! Harry thanks for reminding me several times about fast elbows…totally helped and made a difference for me!

Pre-WOD 5K row with my sista Marissa. 25:03

    • Heather V.

U did the 5K pre- WOD? Crazy girls. Great to see you today. And I liked that you left your sunglasses on during your lifting. And no, for the people reading this, we weren’t outside. :)

    Big Clean Complex 95, 105, 115, 125, 135, 145

  26. Susan Stein

    BCC: 35, 55, 65, 70, 75, 80- failed the last squat clean at 80.
Still nothing overhead, so these were all just the clean part of the complex.

  27. BCC: 50,60,65,70,75,80# PR

Ahhh the Big Clean Complex … striking fear into my heart every time it comes up. Maybe my arms remember the first time I did this when we were not “allowed” to drop after the overheads.
Not a PR of max wt, but of the overall series.

  28. Big Clean Complex: 95, 115, 135, 145, 155, 165

    The Big Clean Complex: 85, 95, 105, 110, 115#, 120# PR

Thanks to Marissa who happened to over hear me saying I was trying for 115# and added up the weight on the bar – informing me that I just did 120#. Luckily she didn’t tell me this until after I did it. Totally mental. The jerk wasn’t pretty though, but I got it. Kim it was great lifting w/ you.

Harry and Kevin, excellent tips today. I couldn’t have asked for better coaching. Great Weight Lifting Wednesday!

    • Colleen (OC)

I like that your starting weight was 15# heavier than my ending weight!

    • So, you just quit the Mayhem and didn’t even say goodbye. Classy.

      • Heather V.

Haha! It is that whole thing about not leaving your 4 & 5 yr old home alone, even if they r just sleeping.

    • you were INCREDIBLE!!! i couldn’t even leave it alone when i asked harry and he thought it was 115# … i was bordering on obnoxious and obsessive but i just HAD to make sure i wasn’t crazy, and also confirm my belief that you are SO F@#@^&@ING STRONG! your form was excellent too! CONGRATULATIONS!

      • Heather V.

Thx! It only took me getting out my calculator to verify! The 3 other people adding up the weights was still not enough for me. ;)

    • awesome weights. Congratulations on the PR.

    • Kristin B.

      SUPER strong. Awesome, Heather!

      • Great lifting with you too!! Awesome lifts today!

Clean complex: worked my way up to #100

  32. BBC-55-80#
    #10 PR for the complex
-thanks Ben, without the little talk about “going for it” I wouldn’t have gone for it!! It is remarkable how much of lifting is in our heads!

  33. BCC: 95-105-115-125-135-145 (fail on the last split jerk).

  34. BCC – 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 75. Pressed out a bit on the last couple of jerks. I love this wod, gets spicy fast.

  35. Kristin B.

2 rounds of (slow) Tosh in the a.m.
BCC: 85 – 105. Grip went around 100# and overall just sore. Didn’t realize how much I favored my right arm — thanks for the heads-up, Geoff.

  36. BCC: 90/95/100/105/115/120 (failed on push jerk)

  37. BCC:

  40. BCC: 95/105/125/135/155/165(F)

Tied PR at 155. Didn’t check before and might have gamed this differently. Failed on 165 Push Press.

Nice job Bringing’ Sally Up AJ

  41. BCC: 55, 60, 75, 85, 90, failed push press and push jerk at 95

  42. BCC: 55/65/75/75(questionable)/70(failed)/55 yeah…something wasn’t clicking.

  43. Hey Gang – It was so awesome to be back at CFNE this morning! Even though Eugene did his usual (excessive smack talking backed by consecutive no-shows), it was great to see many of the family I have missed for the past 1.5 years. If you don’t appreciate it every day already, I’m here to tell you what a special thing it is to be part of CFNE. You are all so lucky to be able to show up there every day. I miss it so much.

I’ll try to be back again soon! Thanks for filling up my tank in the meantime…

  44. Ronda Rockett

    BCC: 55, 60, 75, 8, 85, 75

  48. Big Clean Complex with the John Doole: 95-165 (dropped after the push jerk) was fighting for unbroken, next time. Not a PR, but I only dropped it once, where as I was dropping from the top on 3 of the 6 (March 2013). I’ll take it.
