  1. 9:26. Chasing ho. Sounds like a movie

  2. The Ginger Ho

    Reuben: 7:58 Rx

    Double Unders: 2 min x 3 with 1 min rest: 75, 90, 80…gassed.

  3. Mike R.

    The Reuben: 8:52 Rx

  4. The Reuben: 13:52 Rx

  5. The Reuben: 9:59 Rx

    3 x 2 mins of max DUs, 1 min rest: 95 / 110 / 112

  6. 7:37 rx

  7. Scott W

The Reuben: 12:50 Rx Thanks Chad M. for the push at the end.

  8. The Reuben: 9:37 (45#, back was not happy so 2nd set of T2B was subbed out for 50 abmat sit ups)

  9. Colleen (OC)

Didn’t have a lot of time this morning, so…
    7 rounds for time:
    10 air squats
    10 push ups
    10 sit ups

    8:30. (Todd got 8:02 I think)

I did this a few weeks ago and PR’d it at the time at 10:58. Faster push ups means a 2.5 minute PR!

No DU drill this morning. Mid back has been hurting.

    • Heather O

Great job on the PR girl!!

    • Tricia D

Something to look forward to in the last month of summer – OC will be back in the fall – woot woot. Great pr.

    • Colleen (OC)

Fingers crossed- there’s a *chance* that the furlough may be reduced even further. I think Todd should hear something this week! It would be from 11 weeks down to 6 or 8 weeks. Which would bring me back to CFNE earlier than expected!

  10. Heather O

Overslept this am so got in a 3 mile run around my new temporary neighborhood in Waltham and happily discovered where my new bus stop is. :) Two birds with one stone I suppose, then 50 push-ups and 100 sit-ups. :) Felt tough and slow after my serious over indulgence this past weekend in both food and alcohol(though mostly alcohol) for my shower/bachelorette party, so back on the wagon today! :)

    Have a great day everyone!

    • Tricia D

Hope you had a great weekend, Heather. You deserve a little indulgence :) Your wedding is right around the corner,so exciting!

    • Michelene

A bachelorette party is a good excuse to indulge. You deserve a hall pass for that!

    • Heather O

Thanks ladies! :-) I can’t believe how fast time is flying. See you both soon. xoxo

    • Colleen (OC)

And you certainly deserve a few beverages after the week you had! Hope you had a great weekend!

  11. Big Mike

    The Reuben: 9:24 Rx
Got Ho’d this morning. Now I know he was in the woods practicing T2B all weekend.

  12. The Rueben: 13:51 Rx

    Double Unders 3×2 minutes, 1 minute rest: 45, 55, 39

    • I spent a good chunk of that time on TTBs. They’re improving, but slowly (pun intended).

  13. Tricia D

The Reuben: 8:59 (45#, knees to elbows)

Not happy that I didn’t do the ttb b/c I can get these, but I am only getting singles and to do 50 would mean I would still be there. Making this my August S.M.A.R.T. goal and posting for accountability – 10 ttb kipping practice in the warm up.

  14. Rachel E

    The Reuben: 10:57 Rx

Time was gobbled up by T2B but box jumps are BACK! woohooooo

  15. The Reuben 8:20
2min DU 133,118,108. Nothing in the tank today

  16. The Rueben: 10:37 Rx
First rep of last round of thrusters included dropping the bar on the bridge of my nose. Fortunately just a glancing blow.

  17. The Rueben 14:27 Rx
    last 25 reps took forever

  18. The Reuben: 11:23 Rx
    Du’s: 126,111,115

  19. Katrina

    The Rueben
    DU: 39, 67, 62

Then ran not sure how far. from cfne to oak st and back.

  20. Michelene

The Reuben: 10:51 – 40# & switched to KTB after about 10 or so TTB. Can’t seem to string the TTB together yet. I switched my membership from 3x wk to unlimited yesterday so I’ll have more opportunities to work on them!! :)

    • Tricia D

Great job and great work on the ttb. Glad you are unlimited – the sky is the limit now :)

    • Heather O

Yeah! Great job girl. You will be getting those TTB very soon now! :-)

  21. The Reuben: 12:25 Rx…. felt… underwater slow…

  22. 8.35Rx Great to be at the 5.30 this morning.

  23. Krystle

Reuben: 11:25 (55#) time about 1:30 off due to crowding on bar

  24. Colleen (c4!)

The Reuben 10:33 w/ 2×30# DBs. (Can’t flex my wrist.)
    DU practice 3x2min w/ 1min rest: 94/104/103

  25. Brian L

  26. Stephanie

The Reuben: 11:23 but it needs lots of explanation (35#, started each round of TTB with knees to chest then switched to sit ups, jumped on to *4* 45# circles. That’s one more than I’ve jumped to before so it’s progress!)

  27. Slept in this morning, so did a 4 mile run. Beautiful morning.

Braatz — congrats on MOM. our newest superhero!

  28. It’s hard for me to believe that the first time I walked through the doors of CFNE was one year ago today. I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t envisioned writing this post, wondering where I’d be at this point, physically and mentally. And it’s tempting to break open my log book and just spew progress at you. But frankly, of course there’s been progress. With this family, there’s only one direction to go. We all get better. We all blossom and grow and break the boundaries that many of us carry through our days. Nah…rather than bore you with my utterly massive gains, I figured I’d say something that I don’t always have the courage or time or motivation to say (and certainly in no particular order):

Eugene, thanks for always pushing me to kick Big Mike’s ass. You’ve been inspiring me since my first classes when I recognized you from the before and afters.

Rich T., thanks for always grinding…dude you just work, and it’s impressive.

Heather V., thanks for killing it Every. Single. Day. You have a lot of people chasing you, and that’s a great thing.

OC, thanks for liking bourbon. There’s lots of other stuff, but I like our connection with my old Kentucky home.

Saint, thanks for being scared to ride the Airdyne. It makes me feel good about myself.

Big Mike, thanks for pushing me to better myself…you’re a ballbusting pre-teen who I half expect to show love by throwing a bolder at my head when I walk through the door, but I respect you and I love the competition. You leave it out there every day.

Braatz, I stare at your snatch and wish it was mine. True story. Thanks.

Mike Rich, we’ve been together since day one, and although you’re still a grumpy curmudgeon, you push me more than anyone in the box. For that, and a million other reasons (chief among them your lushiness), I thank you.

Andy L., same thing, in it from day one. Thanks for letting me be a part of your amazing transition from quiet coffee sipper to stone cold killer.

Kevin, MDV, Ally, Derek, James, Ali, Rachel, Kate, Heather, Jerry, Big Bri, Bubba, Geoff, Max, McD and the many other elite athletes we are blessed to have train with and coach us…there are no words. I am in awe of your work, your attitude, your passion. Thanks.

Ali, thanks for freaking me out by how much you smile and dance around.

Rachel E., thanks for co-inventing neon Fridays and always showing up even though you have the ligament and bone stability of my grandma.

Mo, see above…the world is a better place with neon Fridays. Thanks.

Amie, thanks for having an attitude that makes me smile everytime I see you, no matter how I feel.

A.K., thanks for giving better sweaty hugs than most.

Doug Bell, even though you only do what you’re good at, wait…why am I even typing this, Doug doesn’t use the “interwebs.” Thanks.

Ben, although I treat you like every principal I ever had, and run away as soon as I see you coming, allow me to be the 4 bazillionth person to thank you for all that you do for us and for this sport.

Max, my bearded bestie, thanks for watching me, coaching me, carrying me through this first year. You have single-handidly made me hit so many lifts and WODs that I otherwise would not have. Your coaching and input means more than you know. Thanks, broseph.

And to everyone else, mostly because I think if I keep going this post is going to break the blog due to its length, I can’t thank you enough. A year ago, I couldn’t have imagined that joining a gym would make such a huge difference in my life. But it did. I smile more. I laugh more. I feel better. And it’s because of you. I watch all of you. I take note of every class I attend and I find motivation and fight through all of you. I effing love this place. Thanks for letting me be a part of your something special.

P.S. This is the “thanks” email. My “I’m sorry” email went out under separate cover. If you did not receive it, but felt that you should have, please contact me and I will send you an autographed photo of me doing no-armed push-ups.

    • Ho, you are a legendary add to the gym. Excellent work and a very nice (and heartfelt) post.

    • Susan Stein

      Happy Anniversary!

    • this is great, Andrew! Keep up the hard work. I may see you back at the 5:30’s once school starts back up again.

    • Heather O

<3 this! :-) Amazing work Andrew. You are an incredible athlete, a huge inspiration and it is an honor being a mayhmemer with you.

    • Heck yes bud! Wonderful post! I remember when Ashley and I had your Elements class backsquat for the first time and we literally ran out of time before you hit anything that looked remotely difficult. I turned to Ash and was like “this dude is going to be STRONG”. Dude it’s been awesome to watch you grow this year mentally and physically. Keep doing what you do and please keep the banter going with Big Mike, he needs someone to keep him in check.

    • Heather V.

Loved reading this post! Congrats on your 1st year!

    • Michelene

Congrats on a great year! Wow, I would have never guessed you had been at it for only one year.

    • Rachel E

Ahh Andrew, this is so well said. CFNE is a better place with you in it.

Now wear that neon shirt, dammit : )

    • Most of us are pretty sure we’re going to get better at something every time we come to CFNE. And, if Ho is in your class, you KNOW you’re going to have fun as well. Fantastic stuff.

    • Happy Anny!

    • On this, the day of our anniversary, I say congrats sir. I can’t believe its been a year since Elements. Big gains and more to come.

    • Tricia D

Congratulations on all of your accomplishments and such a well-written post. Ben’s thank you is my favorite – spot on, you are hilarious. Cheers to many more years!

    • Colleen (OC)

Wow, I feel like someone just thanked me at the Grammys! I will toast to you with my after-work bourbon this evening! Congrats on a great year!

    • Melinda

Congrats on all you have achieved this year. Entertaining rants are an added bonus.

    • super cool – keep up the good work!

    • Big Mike

You had me at “It’s hard”

This is just too easy for me

    • thank you Ho. can’t believe it has only been a year. seems like you have several years of progression.

    • Happy anniversary. Congratulations on all of the gains, and thanks for all of the laughs.

    • Dude, thanks for being such a huge part of the 5:30 mayehemers. We’ve had a lot of great athletes and characters come and go over the years, and over the last year, you’ve kept up the proud tradition of both smack talking and backing up the smack talk with huge gains. And all in good fun! Congrats on the last year and looking forward to seeing you turning it up this upcoming year. For what it’s worth, I thought today was a huge day for you…coming in after that Friday bender and tearing it up when you didn’t look 100%….great effort.

As for Big Mike, someone needs to keep you guys on your toes!

    • Hahahaha!! Love that my smiling and dancing freaks you out. You’re hilarious. Congrats and we are excited to continue to coach and watch you grow as an athlete!!

    • GREAT post. Glad that I logged in from vacation and caught this. Congrats on a great year!

    • Ben Bergeron

      Love. This. Post.

    Reuben: 8:37 rx
    Du practice: 50, 46, 44: 54. 44, 53: 46, 51, 66
Did Extra practice on these. ( 28 in a row one set, tks, Ali!)

  30. Katie C.

The Reuben: 10:06 (75# front squat, rest as prescribed)

My pace really slowed down on T2B which made my August goals crystal clear:
    1) Improve ab strength by doing 10 T2B after every class (is 10 enough?)
    2) Make appt w/ Dr. Rocket to get shoulder looked at

  31. The Reuben: 12:14 55#

Ho, that was the best “Anniversary” post I have seen.

Agreed, Braatz’s snatch is pretty amazing!!

  32. Has this WOD name made anyone else hungry all day?

  33. Megan B

The Rueben – 16:00 (45#). TTB killed me, but I did manage to string a few together kipping in warm-ups and in each of the sets. Thanks Rachel for the cue – totally worked for me! DU practice, 3×2:00 with 1:00 rest: 50, 44, 46.

  36. Susan Stein

The Reuben: 8:44 (50#, knees up)

Have to get over my fear of toes to bar and just do them. I’m just so scared that I’ll still be doing them when the nooner starts.

    • practice for a few minutes every day—-you will get them. Also, once I got a few—I did them in WOD’s but scaled the number until I got better at them. Try that.

  37. The Reuben: 10:20 with 85# squats instead of thrusters.
    VERY lively 9:30 class:-)
Good to see a lot of people I have not seen for a while…..

  38. Heather V.

    The Reuben: 9:18 Rx
I was Ho’d today as well… until next time.

    • Given that this seems to be catching on, pretty psyched to scratch “become a verb, but like, in a good way” off the bucket list.

  39. The Reuben: 6:23 Rx

    6 x 1 min of max DUs, 1 min rest: 35, 42, 44, 39, 45, 42.

    60 double Unders
    400 m run

  48. The Reuben: 9:48
    Step ups

  49. The Reuben: 11:50 – the TTB were attempts – 10 or so successful each set.

  50. Nicole D

    The Reuben: 9:52 (55#)

First set of thrusters unbroken. Ate that time right up on the TTB, pretty much all singles.
