About the Heroes

On August 6th, 2011, 31 of America’s bravest warriors gave their lives in defense of our freedom. These men were sons, brothers, husbands, fathers, and friends. Not only do we thank them for their service and sacrifice, but we thank those that love them for the sacrifice they have made as well.

The 31 Americans were not the only ones that died as heroes that day. We cannot forget the sacrifice of our Afghan comrades. Seven Afghan commandos and one Afghan interpreter were also killed in action and we cannot look past their sacrifice. They too are heroes and we thank them and honor them and their families.

  1. 31 Heroes
    4 rounds with Eddie
Eddie did Thrusters 135#/I did 115#
Rounds 3/4 rope climbs got modified to half way up and then pull ups from the floor.

Great 0700 WOD this morning Max. You have this unique capability of providing sound coaching on mechanics, encouragement while folks are grinding it out, certainly levity, but also a genuine reverence to the heroes honored.

Great working w/ you Eddie. Enjoy the day all.

    • Thanks Dan, really appreciate your kind words. Great job this morning!

  2. Ashley R

    Ashley and Bob:

lots of one armed modifications but glad to have him back with me at CFNE for our Saturday morning dates! No running for me..walked with plate, some ropes, pull ups, half ropes, 65# thruster, step ups!

Donated online but didn’t register..hope that doesn’t throw things off.

  3. Team Sam and Lisa: 7 + 2
Sam(105#Squat cleans), 24′ BJ, regular pull ups, 25# sand carry)
Lisa(35# thrusters, 24″ step ups, green band pull ups, 10# sand carry)

Really proud of my wife, Lisa. First day back to CFNE after a 2 year hiatus:-)
    Great job, Lisa-proud of you!

  4. Conor N

3 RM Front squat: 305 (almost got 310 failed on third rep. Next time though!)

    20 RM Snatch – 135

    31 Heroes: (solo) 4 rounds + 2 thrusters Rx

  5. Big Mike

Go to the 10 AM they said. Everyone will be there they said. They must have forgotten to set their alarm, or got home so late that their other halves woke their drunk asses up at 7 am.
The seven of us got A LOT fitter today

    31 Heroes w/ Dave C.: 4 rounds & 13 (135#)
Somehow we managed to get to a pace where I did all the thrusters and box jumps and Dave did all the rope climbs. May need some help explaining to my wife why I have hickeys on my neck and back (insert Andrew Ho joke here…better yet, insert Andrew Ho actual story from last night here).

And speaking of said Ho’ster….saw his truck in the lot…I guess he was crushing some squats in the back room.

    • Dave C.

Mike – wish i could have been more helpful on the thrusters after the first rd. On the bright side though I think 25 rope climbs in one wod is a PR for me. And not a single box jump. Amazing.

Great workout this morning and awesome to pair up with Big Mike as always.

    • I’m dying over here.

  6. 31 Heroes (with A.K.) – 6+12 (almost twinsies Mike & Dave!)

AK had 75# on the bar, I had 105#. We both did seated rope pull ups (or whatever they’re called. The rest was Rx.

Oof. That was an adventure after last night. I’m glad I did it though.

Like Big Mike, I was wondering where everyone was this morning ….

    • Not twinsies. I can’t read. It’s clearly time for a nap.

    • Melinda

      Nice Jen!…see? commenting!!!

Was there in spirit, did solo at home as best I could.

  7. At upper cape crossfit Sean and Sean
4 rounds 115#, they have 15′ ropes big difference on arms.
Still can’t imagine the legless rope climbs from the Games.
Speaking of Games new post on coming soon
Titled “Reebok CrossFit Games 2013-This Ain’t Shuffleboard”

Athletes have given me permission to talk about their injuries to help others prevent them. Sean

  8. 31 Heroes: 4 rnds (115#)

Great WOD, great partnering with Chris M.

Honor to the 31 and all of our fallen heroes.

  9. Kevin G

    Kevin and Eric Rap:

    5round + 1rep

    Rap – Rx
    Griggs – 115#, 24″box, 35 pound sandbag

Awesome workout and an honor to do this for the #1 Heroes Charity!

  10. Brian + Jamie – 9 rounds + 14 reps (95#, 6 rope pull-ups)

  11. So proud of our highschool class today. They all participated (and crushed) a scaled version of “31 Heroes”. There version was:

    Amrap 31
    Teams of 2
    8 thrusters (95/65)
3 rope climbs or 6 seated pulls
    11 box jumps (30/24)
400m run (45/35/25/15) we let them pick the weight

Last year this time we had a handful of athletes, today we easily had 20 athletes honoring the fallen. Thank you to all the parents who have signed your sons and daughters up for our program and the biggest thank you goes out to our athletes who continue to show up and give it their all everyday.

  12. I made up yesterday’s wod
    The worm’s revenge:

    duffle bag 75#
I then realized that I should have done squats WITH the duffle bag. I’ll redo this one another day. It was fun. I don’t know how I missed that part lol.

    Wod #2:

    OTM for 10 minutes:
    3 power cleans 135/95
    5 KBS 1.5/2 pood

I had 30 seconds of rest for each round

  13. You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation
but I find this topic to be really something which I think
I would never understand. It seems too complicated and very broad for me.
I am looking forward for your next post, I will try
to get the hang of it!

Here is my homepage – trampolines reviews

  14. Appreciate it. I’ve been looking for something like that. Superb data I’ll come back have a look at in terms of Paleo Eating habits Climbing Games.

  15. Great post however I was wanting to know if you could write a
litte more on this topic? I’d be very thankful if you could elaborate a little bit more.
    Thank you!
